EXPERIENCE METAL
at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, August 18th and 19th, 2012

The Monterey Bay Metal Arts Guild (MBMAG), in collaboration with the Cabrillo College Seahawk Metal Arts Club (SMAC) is participating in a two-day celebration of all things metal at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History on Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, August 19th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

For two days the patios and the classroom of the museum will be a flurry of activity as we present three workshops: Make-A-Bracelet, Crazy Metal Quilt and tufa casting, and two demonstrations: fold forming by Dawn Nakanishi and metal forging by Paul Chaney.

Participants in the workshops will enjoy the hands-on experience of creating something out of metal by casting, stamping, decorating, changing the surface, shaping and coloring. Volunteers from both organizations will assist in teaching the public aboWorkshop participantsut the many ways metal can be manipulated.

Fold forming and forging demonstrations will enchant the audience with how metal moves and changes with heat and energy.
