Sherry Cordova made these argentium sterling silver earrings which each contain 6 faceted garnets tension set between the two layers shaped like radiolaria. non allergenic niobium earwires finish the design

Mary Weeks made these oxidized sterling silver earrings made of two interlocking hoops; the bottom of each with Keum Boo applied gold.

Sherry Cordova made these earrings using 3 layers of argentium sterling silver which form a radiolaria. The top layer is patinated dark to highlight the bottom two layers. The niobium ear wires and stainless steel fasteners add an industrial touch to the organic shapes

ZFolio Gallery is FREE admission for all and ADA accessible. Groups are welcome! Masks are suggested.

The Monterey Bay Metal Arts Guild is happy to see that five of our Guild members are in this show! They are: Lynn Guenther, Angela Gleason, Lynne Todaro, Lynda Watson and Mary Weeks! Congratulations!

You can make an appointment and up to 10 people can be scheduled to view the show at a time. All pieces of art are priced under $300, and you are able to take your purchase with you.

New work is constantly being added.

The show runs from April 9th through May 23rd, 2021 so sign up to go check it out!

WATER | METAL All Member Exhibit at the Santa Cruz Art League July 19 – Sept 15, 2019

The Guild is co-exhibiting with the Santa Cruz Watercolor Society.

Small sculpture and artisan jewelry are featured in up to three pieces from each artist are on exhibit and for sale. Each piece of handmade art showcases metalsmith techniques which range from casting, enamel, fabrication, chasing and repousse, to handmade chains, and more….

This is a CALL FOR ARTISTS to participate in an exhibit from July 19 – Sept 15, 2019.
 
The Guild is co-exhibiting with the Santa Cruz Watercolor Society.

Up to three pieces will be accepted. Art must showcase metalwork. Techniques
can range from casting, enamel, fabrication, chase and repousse, chain, etc. Small sculpture is encouraged.
 
Fee: $40.00
You must be a member of MBMAG to register.
The Santa Cruz Art League will require 40% of sales, 35% if artist is also a Santa Cruz Art League member.

June 15th. Records and labels will be due July 1st –> forms will be sent out to you via email.

Call for Entries: “Autumn Selections” Juried Exhibit at Vargas Gallery

The Board of MBMAG and the Vargas Gallery at Mission College invite current and new members of the Guild to submit work for a juried exhibition. 

Title:  “Autumn Selections”

Exhibit Dates:  Saturday, Sept. 15th through Wednesday, October 31st

Jurors:  Lynda Watson and Albion Smith

Director of the Gallery and Curator of the Exhibit:  Lynne Todaro

Entry Fee $25.00 (non-refundable)

Entry fees due by August 15

Criteria:

  • Up to three pieces may be entered for consideration. Metal should be the primary material.  Copper, silver, gold acceptable.  A maximum of 50 works will be accepted.
  • Jewelry and sculpture will be accepted. For large sculpture pieces please contact Annette (annettenemes@comcast.net)or Toni ( tonidan@comcast.net)
  • Applicants may submit their work for sale or NFS (not for sale)
  • All sales will be between buyer and artist directly.
  • To have work considered for use in advertising, digital photos must be received by Aug. 1st.
  • All work will be collected on Sept. 1st (Santa Cruz area) and Sept. 2nd. (Monterey area) accompanied by records and labels.
  • You will be notified of your acceptance/ non-acceptance by email on September 10.
  • Work will be judged anonymously.
  • Reception at the Gallery will be in the afternoon on Sept. 15th

ZFolio has become one of MBMAG’s favorite places to exhibit – beautiful setting, knowledgeable and helpful staff.  Perfect gift-giving season as well. MBMAG is excited to present a gallery exhibition opportunity this December and January.  Many of our members have been looking for new exhibit opportunities, so not only is this an opportunity to enhance your resume, but also a chance to market work in a gallery setting.  This gallery has an online presence, see Z Folio.

The theme Adornment may be interpreted as you wish. A little research on the meaning of the word might inspire you. Each artist may submit up to two new pieces of jewelry or small sculpture not previously shown in a Guild exhibit. This announcement is far in advance of the deadline, to give you time to create something new.  All pieces submitted to this show must be for sale, and priced with commissions to the gallery in mind (50% to artist/50% to gallery).
