“SELL WHAT YOU WEAR” 2024

"SELL WHAT YOU WEAR" at the Around & Round Exhibit & Sale OPENING RECEPTION June 2, 2024 2-4pm

Everyone is welcome at the Opening Reception
June 2, 2024 from 2 – 4 pm

Exhibiting artists are invited to participate in the “Sell What You Wear” experience at the “Around and Round” exhibit opening reception

Bring a list of SELL WHAT YOU WEAR items to the artwork drop off. The gallery needs this list to prepare for possible sales of jewelry you plan to wear at the opening reception.

HOW TO “SELL WHAT YOU WEAR
Each exhibiting artist may wear pieces to the opening reception that are for sale, IF you fill out the form below. Once PVA has the information you enter which includes, the sales price (WITH the commission for PVA included, media used, title, and description) those pieces will be considered part of that selling opportunity.

All exhibiting artists are encouraged to participate. If this is your first time exhibiting and you have questions, send us an email and we will answer your questions.

Artwork for Sale If a person at the opening reception is interested in buying a piece that you are wearing, take that person with you to the PVA office at the front of the gallery. PVA staff will assist you and will help the customer purchase your piece(s).

Membership in PVA is optional, but encouraged. See: pvarts.org to join
For items that sell in the “gift shop” area of the gallery, PVA will take a 30% commission on your artwork if you are a member of PVA. The commission rate is 45% if you are not a member of PVA. Work should be priced accordingly.

Artist Bio and Artist Statement

Create an artist biography and an artist statement and print them (2 pages maximum). Deliver the printed page(s) with your artwork when you deliver it to the exhibit team.

“Reflections” . . . an unhurried consideration of something recalled to the mind.

The title and theme of the upcoming exhibition is “Reflections”. We encouraged artists to create up to 3 new narrative or story-telling works based on the theme of “Reflections”. All submitted art showcases metalwork in a variety of techniques and forms.

We are excited to announce that Pajaro Valley Arts will be hosting the exhibition in person and virtually. Visit the PVArts.org Virtual Tours page to see an example of a virtual show

As part of the exhibition, the Pajaro Valley Arts center gallery will also sell member’s art in their gift shop area. In our previous gallery exhibit and sale, many members had successful gallery gift shop sales.

I’ve signed up, what’s next?

When you know what pieces of art you are entering into the exhibition, fill out both online forms to submit your pieces. Yes, online forms are new this year! The online forms save you work of having to fill out, print, scan, and email because the forms automatically email the exhibition team your submissions. Note that both forms are required.

Links to the form pages are below. The two pages include instructions, examples of the Labels and Records Form as a downloadable / viewable PDF, and a PDF version of the PVA Loan Agreement for you to view before you fill out that form online.

The forms are due by 7/2/21 if you wish your images to be considered for inclusion on the postcard. The final due date for all forms from all participating artists is 7/12/21

Artwork for Sale PVA staff will assist customers to the gallery using the information we supply during the artwork submission process. The gallery requires the following ratio of pieces that are For Sale and Not For Sale (NFS): If you enter 1 piece, it must be for sale. If you enter 2 pieces, at least one of those pieces must be for sale. If you enter 3 pieces, at least 2 pieces must be for sale and the third can be NFS.

Membership in PVA is optional, but encouraged. See: pvarts.org to join
For items that sell in the “gift shop” area of the gallery, PVA will take 30% if you are a member of PVA or 45% if you are a PVA non-member. Work should be priced accordingly.

Exhibition Plus Sale: The gift area was very successful the last time MBMAG had an exhibition and sale at Pajaro Valley Arts. Show participants may put up to 5 pieces total in the gallery gift shop area. Work must be priced at $200.00 or less. As items are sold you may replace them.

About the Pajaro Valley Arts Council (PVAC)

Our Mission Statement:

“Bringing the community together through the arts”

This is our 30th year!

The Pajaro Valley Arts Council, known as PVAC, was founded as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in 1984 in Watsonville, California, to promote and foster cultural events in the Pajaro Valley and south Santa Cruz County. We strive to nourish the artistic resources found in our rich local cultural diversity, historical heritage, and the natural beauty of the Central Coast. We work collaboratively to develop and promote opportunities for public participation in and appreciation for the arts.

PVAC opened the gallery in 1986, and presents rotating visual art exhibition in both the gallery and satellite locations.
