Etching of Copper Clad Sterling Bi Metal

Students in this workshop learned to design and etch copper clad sterling bimetal. Due to limited time and facilities, Carol Webb provided the bi metal based on the current silver spot price.

We used PNP film and a Teflon griddle to apply an image resist onto the bi metal sheet. The copper layer was etched through to the silver leaving the design in the copper. The etched bi-metal laminate could then be used to create future works of art.

There was information on soldering, final finishing of this bi-metal and patina usage included in this workshop.
