About the Guild

MBMAG celebrates the pursuit of fine metalworking.

Our community of beginners, emerging artists, as well as world-class metal artists welcomes everyone who wishes to join the Guild.

Learn ancient and modern techniques that produce art from metal.  Instruction, lectures, hands-on demonstrations, workshops, collaborations with other metal guilds and schools and colleges, community outreach, and more. —These are only some of the ways that MBMAG aspires to nurture the art of metalworking in the wider public.

The guild began in 1997 in Pacific Grove, California when a group of local metal arts educators and artists gathered. The guild began with a group of 60 enthusiastic members including nationally known metal artists, teachers, students, and sculptors. The guild has been running continuously since that time. A California non-profit public benefit corporation and IRS recognized official non-profit 501(c)4 since 2012, the guild is in the process of transitioning to a 501(c)3.

We strive to provide benefits for all members regardless of city, county, state or country of residence with virtual seminars and recordings available to members. Examples are our Social Media Skills for Artists, Photography for Metal Art Series, and visiting instructor lecture recordings.

The guild has recently had members from all across California in 13 counties: Santa Cruz County, San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Monterey County, San Luis Obispo County, Santa Barbara County, Nevada County, Calaveras County, Merced County, El Dorado County, Alameda County, Sonoma County and Los Angeles County. We have had members in seven states including Illinois, Washington, New Jersey, Arizona, Missouri, Colorado and Nevada.
